We work towards a future that better manages change in heritage sites, so succeeding generations enjoy authentic experiences of our cultural heritage properties. ICOMOS is an international NGO that works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places. Its network of over 10,000 expert members from 132 countries, represented through national committees and international scientific committees contributes to improving the preservation of the world’s heritage sites. It is an advisory body to UNESCO on matters of world heritage. Who are we Built Heritage Professionals We are architects, historians, urban planners, interior designers, structural and environmental engineers, landscape architects, heritage-centered community development experts, conservators, educators, historians, lawyers, and economists who want to improve the preservation practice. We believe that heritage work merits strategy from multidisciplinary practitioners if it is to be holistic and if the results are to be sustainable. Our work, however diverse, is united by our view that heritage is a tool for positive change. There is an urgent need to enact appropriate policies, improve education, and raise professional standards in order to evolve the country’s preservation practice. ICOMOS Philippines, through its heritage experts, its association and collaboration with UNESCO, as well as its access to ICOMOS International’s network of over 10,000 heritage practitioners in 110 countries around the world, can help bridge this gap.
